Sweden PR: New Income Rules for Indian Workers
If you're an Indian working in Sweden and want to stay long-term, you can apply for permanent residency (PR).
To get PR, you need to have worked there for a certain amount of time.
The main thing to know is that starting in mid-2025, you'll need to make at least a certain amount of money each month, which is about 2.76 lakh rupees.
If you meet the requirements, you can stay in Sweden permanently.
After getting PR, you can apply for citizenship, which gives you even more rights, like voting.
Permanent residency in Sweden offers benefits like freedom from work permit renewals.
Eligibility requires 48 months of work permit and 44 months of work in the last seven years.
A new income requirement of approximately Rs 2.76 lakh per month before tax will be in effect from June 17, 2025.
PR status can be revoked if conditions are no longer met, like not living in Sweden.
After PR, you can apply for Swedish citizenship, typically after five years of residency.
