TPG, Temasek Sell 12.64% Stake in Dr Agarwals Health Care
Two big investment companies, TPG and Temasek, owned a large part of an eye care hospital company called Dr Agarwals Health Care.
On one day, they sold some of their shares to other investors through the stock market.
They sold about 12.64% of the whole company.
In return, they got around ₹2,008 crore, which is a very large amount of money.
Even after selling, they still own a big part of the company and remain its largest public shareholders.
Other investment firms, such as ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund and Allianz, bought many of those shares.
When a lot of shares are sold at once, the price often goes down, and that is what happened here.
The share price fell close to 6% that day.
Just before the sale, the company had announced that its profit grew by 44.6% compared with last year.
The company is expanding, now running 304 eye care facilities across 10 countries.
TPG and Temasek sold a 12.64% stake in Dr Agarwals Health Care for ₹2,008 crore through open market bulk deals on the NSE.
Over 4 crore equity shares were offloaded at Rs 501.03–501.54 apiece, with a combined deal value of ₹2,007.94 crore.
After the sale, TPG's affiliate Hyperion Investments' holding fell to 15.47% and Temasek's Claymore Investments' stake fell to 5.17%.
ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Invesco MF, Polar Capital and Allianz Global Investors bought nearly a 5% stake worth ₹761.60 crore.
Shares of Dr Agarwals Health Care fell nearly 6% to close at Rs 511, following the stake sale and strong Q1FY27 results.
