NIT Warangal Scholar Develops Chip to Extend Gadget Battery Life

Kaira Anupama, a PhD student at NIT Warangal, created a small power-management chip.

The chip helps electronic devices use less electricity.

This could make batteries in smartwatches, phones and other gadgets last longer.

It is especially useful when a phone screen is off and the device is not being used.

The chip also has a sensor that watches its own temperature.

Anupama designed one major part, while her senior Jayaram Chilaka designed the temperature-sensor part.

The chip has worked successfully in experiments but is not yet being sold.

The team is applying for a patent and looking for investors to develop it further.
