Kiran Bedi Proposes Civil Defence for Student Protests

Kiran Bedi, a former IPS officer, has suggested that Civil Defence personnel should be the first to respond to student protests.

This idea is to help avoid direct fights between students and the police.

She thinks these Civil Defence people should have shields and body armour to protect themselves but not use batons.

The regular riot police would only step in if things get too out of control.

Bedi believes this way, protests can stay peaceful, and there will be fewer arguments about who did what.

She wants the government to try this idea in future protests.
