Crypto Slide Deepens as Clarity Act Appears Set to Fail

Cryptocurrency prices fell sharply on Tuesday.

Bitcoin dropped to about $75,010 at its lowest point.

Ether and several smaller digital currencies fell even more.

A proposed law called the Clarity Act appeared unlikely to move forward in the Senate.

Many people in the crypto industry had hoped the law would create clearer rules.

Some Democrats wanted ethics rules to stop President Donald Trump from continuing to profit from the industry.

At the same time, worries about higher interest rates were hurting risky investments.

These two problems made investors less willing to buy cryptocurrencies and related stocks.
