Saharanpur Mosque Demolished After Court Upholds Government Land Claim

A mosque in Saharanpur was taken down after a court agreed with the government’s claim to the land.

Officials said the mosque was an unauthorised structure on government property.

They said it covered 315 square metres.

The City Magistrate used a law about removing unauthorised occupants from public land.

The mosque’s managers were given notices.

They also submitted objections before the final decision.

The mosque committee said the building was more than 150 years old.

The administration said legal and security concerns supported its action.
