Drishyam 2 Producer Granted Bail in Cheating Case
A Delhi court has allowed Kumar Mangat Pathak, a film producer, to avoid immediate arrest in a case where he's accused of cheating related to the Chinese rights of the movie 'Drishyam 2'.
The issue started when an investor claimed they were tricked into putting money into a deal for the movie's release in China.
The court, however, said there was no strong evidence that Pathak was trying to run away or hide evidence.
Pathak stated that some money transfers went towards a different film project, not the Chinese rights.
As a result, Pathak can stay out of jail for now, as long as he cooperates with the investigation.
Kumar Mangat Pathak, producer of 'Drishyam 2', granted pre-arrest bail in a cheating case.
The case involves allegations of cheating related to Chinese dubbing and release rights of 'Drishyam 2'.
Complainant Rajinder Kumar Goel allegedly invested Rs 4.3 crore in a co-investment agreement.
The court noted that the prosecution lacked evidence of Pathak attempting to abscond or destroy evidence.
Pathak argued that a fund transfer to the studio was for a Gujarati film project, not Chinese rights.
