Cong MP seeks Rs 14 crore for Pochampally Handloom Park revival
A Congress MP from Bhongir, Telangana, has asked the central government to give Rs 14 crore to fix up the Pochampally Handloom Park.
This park is famous for its special Ikkat handloom work.
The park was not working for some time and was sold because of unpaid loans.
The Telangana government bought it back and wants to make it work again.
The MP says this will help local weavers, create jobs, and keep India’s handloom traditions alive.
He hopes the government will quickly give the money needed.
Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy urged the Union Minister for Textiles to release Rs 14 crore for the revival of Pochampally Handloom Park.
The funds are required under the Pochampally Ikkat Handloom Development Initiative to rejuvenate the dormant handloom park.
The Telangana State Government purchased the park, which was auctioned due to pending loans, with a commitment to revive handloom activities.
The Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles in Telangana has formally requested the release of pending funds from the Ministry of Textiles.
The revival of the park aims to generate employment, strengthen the rural economy, and preserve India’s handloom heritage.
