Maharashtra Edible Oil Traders Issue Ultimatum Over Loose-Sale Restrictions

Maharashtra’s food authority has restricted the sale of loose edible oil.

Many oil traders disagree with this decision.

They say it could hurt small sellers, retailers and poorer consumers.

About 500 traders met in Nashik to discuss what to do.

The traders said they support action against sellers who break food safety rules.

However, they do not want every trader treated the same way.

They have given the government 15 days to cancel the restrictions.

If that does not happen, they may go to court and organize a protest across the state.
