Delhi LG Urges Integrated, Sustainable Development of Aerocity
The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, told officials that the Aerocity area near the airport should grow in a way that works well with the nearby Dwarka area.
He said the Delhi Development Authority and the company GMR should work together.
The plan must focus on green buildings, keeping water safe, and making it easy to move around.
They also talked about better traffic rules and a new Metro line to help people travel.
The governor wants these ideas to be part of the plan from the start, not added later.
LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu directed integrated, future‑ready development of Aerocity near IGI airport.
He emphasized coordination between Delhi Development Authority and GMR to align Aerocity with Dwarka’s growth corridor.
Sustainability, green infrastructure, water conservation, and flood‑management were to be core to all planning.
Traffic and last‑mile Metro connectivity plans were discussed to ease congestion around the commercial hub.
The LG stressed that sustainability, water security, and efficient mobility must remain central, not secondary concerns.
