China and India Dispute Shaksgam Valley Claims
China and India are arguing over a place called Shaksgam Valley.
China says it's theirs and is building roads there.
India says it's actually part of India and doesn't like what China is doing.
Pakistan gave this area to China a long time ago, but India doesn't agree with that.
Both countries have different ideas about who should control this valley.
China is also building a special economic path called CPEC that goes through this area, but India doesn't like that either.
They both have different opinions on what should happen with this valley.
China reaffirmed its territorial claims over the Shaksgam Valley, asserting that its infrastructure projects in the area are legitimate.
India criticized China's infrastructure development in the Shaksgam Valley, stating that it is Indian territory and reserves the right to safeguard its interests.
Pakistan illegally ceded 5,180 sq km of Indian territory in the Shaksgam Valley to China in 1963, which India does not recognize.
China has completed around 75 kilometres of a road in the Shaksgam Valley, with construction continuing at pace.
India maintains that the entire Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral and inalienable part of India.
