Trump Asks Supreme Court to Allow White House Ballroom Construction

President Trump wants to build a very big ballroom at the White House, the home of the US president.

It is a huge project that costs about $400 million.

A ballroom is a fancy room where people go to dance and hold big events.

Trump says the ballroom is needed to keep him safe, because it is linked to underground security features like bomb shelters and a bunker.

But some judges said the president cannot just build it without asking Congress.

Congress is the group of elected people who make laws and decide how government money is spent.

A group called the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which protects important old buildings, took the case to court.

The judges said Congress has to give permission before the big building work above ground can continue.

Trump is now asking the highest court in the country, the Supreme Court, to say he can keep building.

The judges gave the administration two weeks to ask the Supreme Court for help, and work on the underground parts is still allowed to continue.
