India Cuts Myanmar Aid Due to Political Unrest
India has decided to give less money to Myanmar because things are unstable there.
The Indian government had planned to give a lot of money, but the political situation made it difficult to complete projects.
Projects like roads and highways are delayed.
A committee that checks on these things also mentioned that projects are going slower than expected.
India is still trying to work on these projects where it can and is also keeping an eye on what is happening in Bangladesh, where they are also giving less money.
They plan to only fund projects that are very important and create a positive image for India.
India reduced financial aid to Myanmar due to political unrest.
Budget allocation decreased from Rs 400 crore (BE 2023-24) to Rs 250 crore (RE) and Rs 370 crore (BE 2024-25).
The reduction is attributed to the slow pace of project implementation because of political turmoil.
Key infrastructure projects like the Kaladan road project and the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway are affected.
The Parliamentary Committee on External Affairs noted the slow progress of connectivity projects.
