Mumbai Real Estate Revenue Surges, Driven by Luxury Market
Mumbai's real estate market saw a boost in July 2025.
While the number of properties sold stayed about the same, the government made more money from taxes because people were buying more expensive homes.
The suburbs are still popular, and smaller homes are still the most common.
The market is showing strength, especially for luxury properties, and the government is benefiting from this trend.
It is still to be seen if this luxury-driven market can continue without negatively affecting the middle class.
Mumbai's July 2025 real estate revenue reached ₹1,101 crore, a 3% YoY increase.
Year-to-date (Jan-July 2025) stamp duty earnings hit ₹7,832 crore, up 13% YoY.
Properties over ₹5 crore comprised 6% of July registrations, the highest in 18 months.
Western and Central Suburbs accounted for 88% of July transactions.
Compact homes under 1,000 sq ft remained the most popular, making up 82% of registrations.
