India's First Inland Trout Farm Opens in Telangana
A new fish farm called SmartGreen Aquaculture (SGA) has opened in Telangana, India.
This is the first farm in the country that grows trout, a type of fish that usually needs cold water, in a warm place.
The farm uses special technology to keep the water clean and the fish healthy all year round.
The farm can make 1,200 tonnes of trout every year and will sell the fish to people in India.
The farm also has a place to make the fish ready to eat and a website to sell it.
The farm's leader, Aditya Rithvik Narra, says this farm shows that trout can be grown in places where it was not possible before.
The farm will help India make more of its own fish and not have to buy as much from other countries.
India's first inland trout farming facility opened in Telangana, demonstrating cold-water aquaculture in warmer regions.
The facility uses Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) technology for year-round, biosecure trout production.
Built with a $6 million investment, the farm has a production capacity of 1,200 tonnes per year.
The farm includes hatchery units, processing, cold-chain facilities, and an online store for direct consumer sales.
SGA aims to reduce dependence on imports and intermediaries, targeting the domestic premium seafood market.
