Haryana Government Cancels Jobs, Draws Criticism From Opposition
The Haryana government, run by the BJP, initially promised to hire people for many government jobs before the 2024 elections.
After winning the elections, they canceled these job openings.
The government says they want to make the hiring process fairer.
However, the opposition, mainly the Congress party, is angry and says the BJP tricked voters.
The government is now making people take a Common Eligibility Test (CET) before they can apply for some jobs.
The Congress party is accusing the BJP of using the jobs as a trick to get votes before the elections.
Haryana government cancelled recruitment for 8,600 jobs after previously announcing them.
The cancelled posts include 5,666 police force positions and 3,053 Group C posts.
The government cites a need for "transparency and systematic recruitment" for the cancellation.
Opposition parties, particularly the Congress, accuse the BJP of "voter betrayal".
The Common Eligibility Test (CET) is now a prerequisite for Group C and D posts.
