Maharashtra Cabinet Approves Restructuring of Finance and Planning Departments

Maharashtra Cabinet Approves Restructuring of Finance and Planning Departments

Maharashtra’s Cabinet decided to reorganize two government departments.

The departments are Finance and Planning.

The Finance Department will take care of more budget and money-related work.

This includes deciding how funds are allocated and handling extra funding requests.

The Planning Department will focus on checking whether government schemes are working well.

It will also help set priorities for district development plans.

The department will examine major infrastructure and public-private partnership proposals.

The change is linked to the replacement of the national Planning Commission by NITI Aayog.
