Parliament Agrees to Debate Vande Mataram and Electoral Reforms
The Indian Parliament has agreed to hold two important debates.
First, they will discuss the national song Vande Mataram on Monday.
Then, the next day, they will talk about changes to how elections are run, which the Opposition wanted to discuss first.
The Opposition wanted to talk about the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls (SIR) because many people have died due to heavy work.
The government said they would discuss it but only after the Vande Mataram debate.
The Opposition agreed to this plan but said they will still criticize the government during both debates.
This agreement means Parliament can now do its normal work.
The debates will last 10 hours each, and the Opposition plans to highlight issues like the misuse of the Election Commission and the Sanchar Saathi app.
Parliament agreed to debate Vande Mataram on Monday, 8th Dec, and electoral reforms on Tuesday, 9th Dec.
The Opposition demanded the SIR debate first, but the government insisted on Vande Mataram going first.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the Vande Mataram debate and is expected to intervene in the electoral reforms debate.
The agreement resolved the Parliament deadlock, allowing normal business to resume from Wednesday.
The Opposition accepted the government's proposal but will expose the government in both debates.
