Phil Schiller Steps Back as John Ternus Takes Apple Helm

Phil Schiller has worked at Apple for many years and helped launch products such as the iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac, and Apple Watch.

He also helped create the App Store with Steve Jobs.

Now he is giving up responsibility for the App Store and Apple’s product events.

Schiller is not leaving Apple completely.

He will remain an Apple Fellow and work on other projects.

Eddy Cue will oversee the App Store, while Carson Oliver will manage its everyday operations.

Nola Weinstein will lead the team that organizes Apple’s product events.

People inside Apple reportedly see the change as a step toward Schiller’s eventual retirement.

The transition comes as John Ternus becomes CEO and Tim Cook becomes executive chairman.
