Delhi High Court to Hear Umar Khalid Bail Plea Aug 27
A big court in Delhi will decide if Umar Khalid can get out of jail while he is being tried for the 2020 riots.
He was arrested in September 2020 and charged with serious crimes, including terrorism laws.
The court has already said no to his earlier requests for bail.
Some other people in the case were allowed to stay out of jail.
The riots caused many deaths and injuries, and the government says the protests were part of a bigger plan to hurt the country.
The court will look at all the evidence before making a final decision.
Delhi High Court will hear Umar Khalid’s bail plea on August 27, 2024.
Khalid is charged under UAPA, IPC, Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, and Arms Act.
Trial court rejected his bail on July 4, citing a Supreme Court order.
Supreme Court denied bail to Khalid and Imam but granted it to other co-accused.
