Micron Taiwan Workers Reject Offer, Seek Larger AI-Era Bonuses

Micron Taiwan Workers Reject Offer, Seek Larger AI-Era Bonuses

Micron makes memory chips in Taiwan, which are important for artificial intelligence data centers.

The company has offered its Taiwan employees rewards worth between 35 and 68 months of pay.

Workers say this is not enough because Micron’s profits have grown strongly.

Their unions want a one-time payment equal to 83 months of salary.

They also want 15 percent of Micron’s operating profits shared with workers every quarter.

The unions represent nearly 12,000 employees.

They say rival companies offer better bonus arrangements.

Micron and the unions are negotiating with government mediation.

Workers may strike if they cannot reach an agreement.
