Tarakeswar’s Shravani Mela begins with aerial rose petals
The Shravani Mela, a big festival for Lord Shiva, started in Tarakeswar, West Bengal.
This year, it's extra special because a helicopter dropped rose petals on the temple and devotees.
The government made it a National Festival and added many new things like cool jute carpets for the pilgrims to walk on.
Lots of people come every year to walk barefoot to the temple, and this year, they have better facilities like rest areas and medical help.
The Chief Minister, Suvendu Adhikari, said the government wants to support this religious tradition more than before.
It's a mix of old traditions and new, big celebrations.
The Shravani Mela began with a helicopter showering rose petals on the Taraknath Temple and devotees.
The festival has been elevated to the status of a National Festival by the West Bengal government.
New initiatives include jute carpets, round-the-clock lighting, and enhanced medical facilities along the pilgrimage route.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari inaugurated the month-long festival on July 14.
The pilgrimage route is 35 kilometers long, starting from Nimai Tirtha Ghat to the Taraknath Temple.
