Gold, Silver Resume Upward Trajectory as Dollar Weakens

Gold, Silver Resume Upward Trajectory as Dollar Weakens

Gold and silver are precious metals that people buy as a safe way to keep their money.

Recently, the prices of gold and silver went up a lot.

One ounce of gold was worth more than $4300, after dropping to about $3995 a few days earlier.

Silver also became more expensive, rising to $62.90 per ounce.

A big reason is that the US dollar has become weaker.

When the dollar is weaker, gold and silver usually cost more.

Prices also rose because experts think the Federal Reserve will not raise interest rates in September.

Oil prices cooled down, which made inflation less of a worry for the central bank.

Central banks buying gold also helped push prices higher.

Some experts believe gold prices will keep climbing, possibly back to their record high next year.
