Birbhum Police Seek Red Corner Notice for Tulu Mondal
Tulu Mondal is a leader in the Trinamool Congress party who is thought to have run away to the United Arab Emirates.
The police in Birbhum, a district in West Bengal, want to get a special notice called a Red Corner Notice to help catch him.
They searched the homes of people close to him, found some trunks, and arrested his driver and accountant.
They also stopped his nephew who tried to leave for Nepal.
The police think he might have hidden gold and used his power to get big construction jobs.
They are asking the Enforcement Directorate to help investigate the gold smuggling.
The chief minister said the police are good at this kind of work, so they are looking everywhere for him.
Birbhum Police have started the process to obtain a Red Corner Notice for Tulu Mondal, an absconding TMC leader.
Mondal is believed to be hiding in the UAE, with India having an extradition treaty with the country.
Police raided the ancestral home of Ifazul Haque, a close associate, seizing trunks and finding Haque missing.
The driver and accountant of Mondal were detained, and his nephew Sheikh Wasim was arrested while trying to flee to Nepal.
