A panchnama prepared on August 3, 2026 found that 60-70% of onions were rotten at a storage centre in Chandwad taluka, where roughly 2,200-2,400 metric tonnes had been stored.
The MPs demanded physical verification of stored onions, a comprehensive audit of the procurement process, verification of farmers and quantities, and confirmation that farmers were paid in full and on time.
They also sought details on FPOs/FPCs, cooperative societies, procurement centre locations, CWC warehouse stock, NAFED and NCCF inspections, and strict action against those responsible for irregularities.
