Taiwan Completes Sea Trial for First Indigenous Submarine
Taiwan built its first submarine and tested it at sea.
This is a big step in helping them defend against China.
They're getting help from other countries, like the U.S. and U.K., to build these submarines.
They will do more tests underwater and hope to have a few of these submarines ready by 2027.
These submarines will have a combat system by Lockheed Martin and carry U.S.-made Mark 48 heavyweight torpedoes.
Taiwan completed the maiden sea trial for its first domestically developed submarine.
The submarine program aims to strengthen deterrence against the Chinese navy.
The submarine program has drawn on expertise and technology from several countries, including the US and Britain.
Underwater tests will follow the sea trials.
Taiwan plans to deploy at least two domestically developed submarines by 2027.
