Supreme Court To Hear Plea For Mandatory E20 Labelling

Supreme Court To Hear Plea For Mandatory E20 Labelling

The Supreme Court of India will hear a petition about ethanol mixed into petrol.

The hearing is scheduled for August 31.

Narendra Kumar Goswami wants petrol pumps to clearly show how much ethanol is in the fuel.

He also wants fuel receipts to display this information.

The petition asks for a public guide showing which vehicles can use different ethanol blends.

It seeks an expert group to study how E20 affects engines, mileage, repairs, warranties and insurance.

The group would also examine emissions, water use, food security and animal-feed concerns.

The petition asks for a plan to help older vehicles that may not work well with higher-ethanol petrol.
