Eutelsat and Airtel aid Sri Lanka floods with OneWeb connectivity
Eutelsat and Airtel are helping the Indian Army in Sri Lanka by providing special satellite internet.
This internet is very fast and works well even when regular networks are not working because of floods.
The Indian Army is using this internet to talk to doctors and give help to people who need it.
This is important because Sri Lanka had a very bad flood, and many people are hurt or missing.
The companies say that having good communication in bad situations is very important to save lives and help people.
Eutelsat and Airtel are extending OneWeb's LEO satellite connectivity to support the Indian Army's humanitarian relief operations in flood-affected Sri Lanka.
The connectivity is re-establishing reliable communications in regions where terrestrial networks have been disrupted.
The technology is facilitating 24/7 telemedicine consultations with specialist medical teams.
Sri Lanka recently faced one of its worst weather disasters in two decades, with widespread flooding and landslides.
The companies emphasize the importance of maintaining high-quality communications in crisis situations to safeguard lives and enable essential services.
