Yadav Calls for Stronger Biodiversity Governance and Community Benefits

Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav met officials to discuss protecting India’s plants, animals and ecosystems.

The meeting took place in Chandigarh over two days.

The National Biodiversity Authority said it had shared Rs 200 crore with communities and states.

Yadav said local Biodiversity Management Committees should work more effectively.

These committees help communities record and manage local biodiversity.

He also said benefits from using biological resources should reach communities.

India has submitted new reports about its international biodiversity commitments.

Officials will discuss better conservation, local participation and sustainable livelihoods.
