Modi Launches Assam Projects, Targets Congress
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Assam for two days and launched many big projects worth Rs 15,600 crore.
He started the construction of a new fertiliser factory that will make a lot of urea, which helps plants grow.
He also opened a new airport terminal and talked to students about their studies.
Modi also honoured the martyrs of the Assam Agitation, a movement against illegal immigrants.
He accused the Congress party of encouraging illegal immigrants to settle in Assam and not caring about the development of the state.
The Congress party, however, said that the BJP has not done enough to implement the Assam Accord and protect the interests of the people.
Modi's visit was seen as a way to prepare for the upcoming state elections in 2026.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched projects worth Rs 15,600 crore during his two-day visit to Assam.
He laid the foundation stone for a Rs 10,601-crore ammonia-urea plant in Dibrugarh, which will have an annual urea production capacity of 12.7 lakh metric tonnes and is scheduled for commissioning in 2030.
Modi inaugurated a new Rs 4,000-crore terminal at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport and interacted with 25 students during a 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' programme aboard a cruise ship on the Brahmaputra.
He paid homage to the 860 martyrs of the Assam Agitation and accused the Congress of encouraging illegal infiltration and not caring about the development of Assam.
The Congress party questioned the BJP's record on implementing the Assam Accord and protecting the interests of the people, alleging that the BJP is diverting attention from their failures.
