Thoothukudi Mayor Alleges TVK Threats Over Corporation Contracts

Thoothukudi Mayor Alleges TVK Threats Over Corporation Contracts

A meeting of the Thoothukudi city council became heated on Friday.

Two councillors who recently joined TVK raised demands during the meeting.

One wanted the council to thank the government for giving Rs.

90 crore for a new bus stand.

The other wanted Minister Mathanraja’s name added to a plaque at a fair-price shop.

Mayor Jegan Periyasamy rejected both requests.

He said the bus-stand project had been planned by the DMK-run Corporation earlier.

He also said the shop was built using funds from former DMK MLA Shanmugaiah.

The Mayor accused TVK workers of threatening officials and contractors, and said he would file a police complaint.
