Currently, there are 33 urea manufacturing units in India with a total capacity to produce 269.42 LMT of urea.
The new policy replaces an older one from 2012, which ended in 2019.

The policy aims to achieve self-sufficiency in urea production under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
India currently has 33 operational urea manufacturing units with a capacity of 269.42 LMT.
