Elon Musk to Rename Grokipedia to Encyclopedia Galactica
Elon Musk, who also runs Tesla and xAI, has a new project called Grokipedia.
It's like an online encyclopedia, similar to Wikipedia, but it's created and checked by an AI named Grok.
Right now, it's called Grokipedia, but Musk plans to change its name to Encyclopedia Galactica.
He says this name is inspired by science fiction stories he enjoys.
The goal is for this encyclopedia to hold all sorts of knowledge, not just words, but also sounds and videos.
Unlike Wikipedia, people can't directly change the articles; the AI does all the checking.
Some people have noticed that Grokipedia has made mistakes or shown bias in its information.
Musk admits there's a lot of work to do to make it better and more trustworthy before the name change happens.
He wants it to be a super comprehensive and reliable source of information for everyone.
Elon Musk announced Grokipedia, an AI-powered encyclopedia by xAI, will be renamed Encyclopedia Galactica.
The rebranding is planned once the platform meets stronger quality and accuracy standards.
Grokipedia uses xAI's Grok large language model for content creation and fact-checking, without direct user edits.
Concerns have been raised about factual errors and ideological bias within Grokipedia's content.
The future Encyclopedia Galactica aims to be a multimedia-rich, open-source knowledge hub, serving as an alternative to Wikipedia.
