JGLS Professor’s Kashmir Remarks Draw Scrutiny Over Parliamentary Advisory Role

JGLS Professor’s Kashmir Remarks Draw Scrutiny Over Parliamentary Advisory Role

Jindal Global Law School was invited to give Parliament advice about proposed laws involving Jammu and Kashmir.

Its delegation included Professor Arijeet Ghosh.

In an earlier classroom video, Ghosh called the region “India-occupied-Kashmir.”

The article says this wording is very different from India’s official description of Jammu and Kashmir.

It argues that Parliament should know about an adviser’s earlier public statements.

The article also says experts do not have to agree with the government.

JGLS could defend Ghosh’s academic freedom and explain his current views.

The main question is whether the committee received enough information about his past position before hearing his advice.
