FSSAI Orders CG Foods to Halt Veg Bhujia Production
India’s food-safety regulator inspected a snack factory in Rajasthan.
It said the factory reused broken noodles collected from the floor to make bhujia.
The regulator said the noodles were not heat-treated before being reused.
Officials also reported that some packages had dates set earlier than they should have been.
Two bhujia varieties were allegedly made without the required licence.
FSSAI seized more than 32,000 kilograms of stock.
It also detained 1,925 boxes of expired products.
Samples will be tested, and the company may face further action under India’s food-safety law.
The company did not immediately respond to one publication’s request for comment.
FSSAI directed CG Foods India to stop producing Veg Bhujia Namkeen after an inspection found alleged food-safety and hygiene violations.
Inspectors said the facility reprocessed floor-collected broken noodles into bhujia without heat treatment and used predated packaging dates.
The regulator identified unlicensed production of the Wai-Wai MaMa and Wai-Wai Mama Punte bhujia variants.
FSSAI seized 32,107.2 kilograms of stock and detained 1,925 boxes of expired finished goods.
Samples were collected for laboratory analysis, while legal proceedings and possible further regulatory action were initiated.
