UK Care Home Resident Shocked by New Prime Minister Burnham
Andy Burnham is the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
He took over from Keir Starmer in June 2024.
To talk about caring for people, he visited a care home called Jewish Care in Golders Green, London.
A resident there was surprised and said, "What, a new one?
They keep changing every five minutes."
Burnham laughed and said he was the new Prime Minister.
He also said he wants to make social care better and will speed up a review led by Louise Casey.
Burnham said he would not call a new election right away.
He wants to focus on fixing care before any election.
The visit showed he is working on new ideas for caring for people.
Andy Burnham became the UK's seventh Prime Minister in June 2024, succeeding Keir Starmer.
He visited Jewish Care in Golders Green, London, to promote social care reforms and a national care service.
A care home resident mistakenly thought Burnham was a local politician and remarked, "What, a new one? They keep changing every five minutes."
Burnham confirmed his role, laughed, and agreed that the UK has seen frequent leadership changes.
He announced acceleration of Louise Casey's social care review and said he would not call a snap general election.
