India: No Plans to Declare Cows as National Animal
The government has no plans to make cows the national animal, as stated in Parliament.
This was in response to a question.
Laws about protecting animals are usually made by the states, not the central government.
The central government is running a program since 2014 to support states in their efforts to take care of cows.
The Union Minister stated the Centre has no plans to declare cows as the national animal.
This was in response to a question in Lok Sabha.
The preservation of animals falls under the State legislature's authority.
The Rashtriya Gokul Mission has been implemented since December 2014.
The mission supports initiatives for the promotion, protection, and rearing of cows.
