Shaan Hopes to Experience Kolkata Durga Pujo for First Time
Singer Shaan grew up celebrating Durga Pujo in Mumbai.
As a child, hearing the dhaak meant the festival had started and he could visit pandals late at night.
His mother loved Pujo and helped make it a special time for the family.
He says he misses her and now prays for everyone to stay healthy and together.
Over time, he performed at many Mumbai Pujo celebrations and had to hurry between stages.
He still enjoys festival foods like bhog and chop-cutlet with kashundi.
Shaan has never celebrated Pujo in Kolkata, but hopes to visit this year.
He is also planning a festive concert in Dubai for people who may be missing home.
Shaan says the sound of dhaak reminds him that Durga Pujo has begun and of staying out late at Mumbai pandals as a child.
He recalls that his mother’s enthusiasm shaped the festival for him, and says her absence has changed how he experiences it.
As a performer, he went from enjoying Pujo as a child to racing between Mumbai pandals, while still cherishing bhog, snacks and the community atmosphere.
Shaan says he has never attended Pujo in Kolkata but hopes to do so for the first time this year.
He plans a festive set for his All Of Me Tour show at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena, aiming to evoke a pandal atmosphere for South Asian fans away from home.
