Assam Reports Top Performance Implementing New Criminal Laws

Assam says it is doing very well in using India’s new criminal laws.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state scored 92.16% for following the new system.

The national average was reported as 74.86%.

Assam received full compliance scores in several areas.

These included sharing criminal justice data and using fingerprint and medical reporting systems.

The new laws began replacing older criminal laws on July 1, 2024.

The state says technology and better cooperation are helping its justice system.

It also says it wants victims to be heard and cases to continue until they are completed.
