Harsimrat Kaur Badal Leads Akali Fight as Sukhbir Recovers
A brave woman named Harsimrat Kaur Badal has started leading her family's political party in India.
Her husband, Sukhbir Singh Badal, is the leader of that party.
Someone attacked him inside a gurdwara, which is a Sikh place of worship, and he is now recovering.
Harsimrat stood up and gave speeches to party workers while he gets better.
She said the people who attack others inside a holy place are cowards.
She asked everyone to stay strong and not give up.
Harsimrat works very hard for the people of her area called Bathinda.
She once quit the national government to support farmers.
Many people in her party are happy to see her take charge.
They are getting ready for elections in the year 2027.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal, the Shiromani Akali Dal's (SAD) lone Lok Sabha MP, is leading the party's Punjab Bachao rally while her husband, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, recovers from an attack.
Sukhbir Singh Badal was attacked inside a gurdwara in Maharashtra's Nanded days before the event.
Addressing the annual conference at Isru village near Khanna, Harsimrat called those who attack people inside a Guru Ghar 'Guru-dokhis' and cowards, saying the attack would not silence Sukhbir Badal.
Harsimrat resigned from the Union Cabinet in 2020 over the contentious farm laws and retained her Bathinda Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 general elections.
The SAD won only Bathinda out of Punjab's 13 Lok Sabha seats in 2024 and is now rebuilding ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
