LPG Shortage Disrupts Mid-Day Meals in Rural Maharashtra Schools

In Beed, Maharashtra, rural schools are facing big problems because there aren't enough LPG gas cylinders.

This is making it hard to cook mid-day meals for students.

Schools like the Zilla Parishad Primary School in Mulukwadi have been without LPG for four months.

They have to use firewood stoves, which is difficult, especially during the monsoon.

The cooks have a tough time because the wood is wet and smoky.

The government program that provides these meals, called the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman scheme, is also struggling because the money given by the government isn't enough.

The cost of LPG cylinders is high, making it hard for schools to keep the program running.

A social activist says the government needs to make sure schools get their LPG cylinders on time so children can get their meals.
