Jio Platforms Reports First Profit Decline
Jio Platforms, a major telecom company in India, recently reported its first-ever decline in net profit.
This happened because they spent a lot on setting up 5G networks, which increased their costs.
Even though their revenue went up by a small amount, the extra costs from 5G made their overall profit go down.
Despite this, they added a lot of new users and their 5G services are very popular.
The company is also planning to go public soon, which is a big step for them.
They are focusing on being a tech company and making digital services available to more people.
Jio Platforms reported a 2.16% sequential decline in net profit to Rs 7,764 crore in Q1 FY27.
Revenue from operations rose 2.39% to Rs 39,713 crore driven by subscriber gains and digital services.
Ebitda margin improved to 53.3%, up 90 basis points sequentially.
5G subscriber base grew to 285 million, with 5G traffic exceeding 50% of total wireless traffic.
Jio Platforms filed its DRHP with Sebi, a significant step towards its public listing.
