Mediawan Acquires Peter Chernin's North Road

Mediawan, a big French company that already owns Brad Pitt's Plan B, has bought Peter Chernin's North Road Company.

Together, they will have almost 100 production companies making over $2 billion worth of shows and movies every year in 15 different countries.

Some of the shows they make include Slow Horses and the Planet of the Apes movies.

Peter Chernin will be the chairman of North Road, and the company will keep all its current leaders and teams.

Mediawan's co-founder said they want to be the best independent company for making high-quality content.

Peter Chernin said this deal is important because streaming services are now global, and they need a global company to make content for them.

This is the biggest deal in 2026 so far, and other big companies are also merging or trying to buy each other.
