Chandrayaan-3 Finds Active Plasma at Lunar Pole

Chandrayaan-3 Finds Active Plasma at Lunar Pole

The Chandrayaan-3 mission found that the plasma near the moon's south pole is much more active than scientists thought.

Plasma is a special kind of matter with charged particles.

The mission's lander, Vikram, measured the electron density at the landing site, called Shiv Shakti point.

It found between 380 and 600 electrons per cubic centimetre, which is higher than what was expected.

This is important because plasma can affect spacesuits, electronics, and communication.

Understanding this helps in planning safer missions and building lunar bases.

The data will help in designing better technologies for future moon exploration.
