Punjab Introduces AI as Main Subject from Class 1-12
The Punjab government has started teaching Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a main subject in schools from Class 1 to Class 12.
This makes Punjab the first state in India to do this.
The project, called 'Sarbat.AI', will be introduced in two phases.
First, AI will be added to the Computer Science curriculum for Classes 8 to 12.
Later, it will be expanded to Classes 1 to 7.
The curriculum has been developed by looking at best practices from other countries and follows UNESCO's guidelines for ethical AI.
The project aims to prepare students for the future by teaching them about AI in a responsible and safe way.
It will involve live online classes, recorded lectures, and project-based learning.
The government has partnered with companies like Google, Intel, and Canva to make this happen.
This initiative will benefit a large number of schools and students in Punjab.
Punjab becomes the first state in India to introduce AI as a mainstream subject from Class 1 to 12.
