Delhi High Court Seeks Salman Khan’s Reply in Film Dispute
The makers of a proposed film called Kala Hiran have asked the Delhi High Court to pause a case Salman Khan brought about the movie.
Producer Amit Jani says Khan already has another case about protecting his name and image, so the two cases may cover much of the same dispute.
Khan wants the film and its promotions restricted.
He says they use recognizable parts of his identity without permission and could hurt his reputation.
The court has asked Khan to respond to the request.
Earlier, it ordered online platforms to remove the film’s teaser and related posts.
The filmmakers say the movie is not a story about Khan’s life and that it concerns public events connected to the blackbuck controversy.
They have also said the film needs censor-board certification before release.
The court has not yet decided whether to pause Khan’s suit.
The Delhi High Court issued notice to Salman Khan on producer Amit Jani’s request to stay Khan’s suit concerning the proposed Kala Hiran film.
Jani argues the film-related proceedings substantially overlap with an earlier personality-rights case brought by Khan and amount to parallel litigation.
Khan seeks to restrain the film and its promotional material, alleging unauthorized commercial use of his identity and harm to his reputation.
An earlier interim order directed online platforms to remove the film’s teaser and related posts and barred unauthorized commercial use of Khan’s distinctive attributes.
The filmmakers say the film is not a Khan biopic and concerns public events linked to the blackbuck controversy; they have also said it needs censor-board certification before release.
