Centre Questions AP Govt. Over Panchayat Fund Delays
The Central government is asking the Andhra Pradesh government why it hasn't given money to local village councils (Gram Panchayats) that it was supposed to.
The central government sent money months ago, but it hasn't reached the local councils yet.
Also, some money from an earlier program is still not spent.
The central government wants to know what's going on and wants the state government to follow the rules, which say the money should be transferred quickly.
This action followed a petition from local panchayat representatives.
The Union Ministry of Panchayat Raj questioned Andhra Pradesh regarding delayed fund disbursal.
The central government released funds from the 15th Finance Commission seven months prior, yet they remain uncredited.
Rs 1,121 crore from the 15th Finance Commission and Rs 679 crore from the 14th Finance Commission are pending.
