Iranian President Rejects Nuclear Bomb Ambitions, Offers International Verification

Iran’s president says his country does not want to build a nuclear bomb.

He said Iran considers such weapons unholy and illegal.

Iran is willing to reduce the strength of some of its enriched nuclear material.

It also says international inspectors can check its nuclear programme.

However, the International Atomic Energy Agency says it still cannot confirm that the programme is only for peaceful purposes.

Iran has enriched uranium to levels that worry the United States and its allies.

The Iranian president blamed the United States for starting the latest escalation by attacking Iran.

He said Iran would defend itself but did not want the conflict to continue.

He added that Iran could still make an agreement with the United States if talks followed international law.
