Rahul Gandhi calls Amarinder Singh favourite BJP politician despite feud
Rahul Gandhi is a famous Indian politician.
He was answering questions from students on social media.
A student asked him to name his favourite politician from the opposite party.
He said Captain Amarinder Singh, a former Chief Minister of the state of Punjab.
Rahul Gandhi called him 'cool' and said he knows a lot about military history.
But Captain Amarinder Singh might not feel the same way.
A few years ago, Rahul Gandhi's party removed Singh from his job as Chief Minister.
Singh felt insulted and betrayed by how it happened.
He also disagreed with Rahul Gandhi's claim about why he was removed.
So even though Rahul Gandhi spoke kindly of him, the older politician is still very unhappy with the Gandhi family.
During an Instagram 'Ask Me Anything' session, Rahul Gandhi named former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh as his favourite BJP politician, calling him 'cool' and an 'expert on military history'.
Amarinder Singh has expressed severe bitterness toward Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra since his removal as Punjab Chief Minister in September 2021.
Rahul Gandhi has said Singh was removed because he refused to provide free electricity to the poor, prioritising corporate contracts with power-supplying companies.
Singh's removal followed a feud with Navjot Singh Sidhu, a secret revolt by over 40 Congress MLAs, and criticism over unfulfilled 2017 campaign promises.
Singh has called the Gandhi siblings 'inexperienced' leaders and said he would never return to the Congress party under their watch.
