Bastar Tiranga Yatra ends atop Karregutta hills in Bijapur

Bastar Tiranga Yatra ends atop Karregutta hills in Bijapur

Bastar is a part of India where, for a very long time, people lived in fear because of a group called Maoists.

Now, the government says the Maoist violence has stopped and peace has come back.

To celebrate this, leaders took a special trip called the Bastar Tiranga Yatra, carrying India's flag, the tiranga.

More than 200 people rode motorcycles for about 600 kilometers, passing through places that were once too dangerous to even visit during the day.

Children and villagers came out in the rain to cheer for them and shout 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai,' which means 'Victory to Mother India.'

At the end, the leaders climbed a big hill called Karregutta, where the Maoists used to hide, and raised the flag.

They also planted trees to remember the brave soldiers who died protecting the people.

The leaders said the flag now flies with pride in places where national celebrations were once impossible.

They promised that more development will come to Bastar, but at the pace that its people choose.
